During a turndown, you have to do the same pre-trip inspection plus sweep the bus and take out the trash. During the startup shifts, you're responsible for doing a complete bus check/pre-trip inspection within 15 mins. These shitty shifts are continuous/multiple 5 am startup shifts and 11 pm to 12 am turndown shifts. All the new people are stuck with the shittiest of shittiest shifts. Depending on the level of seniority you have, you are given a date and time to log in to their shift selector website to select shifts. Depending on the longevity time and total amount of time you've driven, you're placed on their seniority system. Then they can call the Unitrans office to complain and you'll get a nice little email from the Manager asking to pay better attention. They'll just not pull the cord and scream at you when you've driven away from the stop they were intending to get off at. Well, some people assume you have telekinetic powers and can read their mind. There are cords that run around the bus that when pulled, they ring a bell to the driver to let them know to pull over at the next bus stop. People have the habit of having the intention of getting off at specific bus stops but not signaling this to the driver. If someone doesn't like the way you pulled out of a stop, didn't pull into a stop close enough to the curb, maybe you braked too hard, they didn't like your steering, basically people will bitch about any single little thing they didn't like about you driving them around and they can call the Unitrans office and complain about you. Disabled people have to be basically treated like royalty. Some people can be nice but most are mean and don't care. If you want to train a shorter amount of time, they will expect you to have complete availability for them to schedule you with trainers. Maybe even longer depending what your availability is.
